Author Guidelines
Reed Riggs Publishing provides high quality and original content aimed at entertaining novice- to intermediate-proficiency users of many languages. Writers are encouraged to submit manuscripts that aim to entertain novice- to intermediate-proficiency audiences, including but not limited fans of romance, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, historical fiction and other genres. Formats can include text-only short-stories, text-only novels, graphic novels, captioned cartoons, videos, and more. Intended audiences can include classroom learners, but preference is generally given to manuscripts that are not limited to classroom audiences. Ideally buyers of your original content will find your item as entertaining an experience as watching Netflix or reading something would tend to enjoy. Learning words and improving language proficiency will be a typical component of what satisfies novice- to intermediate-proficiency audiences, but language learning should be a lower priority goal compared to entertainment and audience-designed storytelling. Typically, incomprehensible media quickly becomes not entertaining due to the lack of ability to follow along with the story's events. When the writer's goal is to entertain, then comprehensibility remains a necessary component of the content you create, and comprehensibility will typically facilitate language development, but secondarily to entertaining.
Your manuscript can promote the use of any language--yes, Spanish and English are welcome. Also welcome are manuscripts in less commonly taught languages, including endangered languages.
In order for us to review your content (ideas, story structure, etc.) your manuscript will need to include English translations indicating the meaning of each line. Your final published version should be in your intended target language only. We will also need line numbers. It can look like this (indentation is not important):
1. 我不要！
I don't want it.
2. 你要吗？
Do you want it?
